Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, highlighted the significance of celebrating Tinubu’s contributions, stating that it goes beyond acknowledging his birthday but also recognizes the transformation his policies have brought to Lagos.
Obasa reflected on Tinubu’s tenure as governor, noting his remarkable achievement in significantly increasing the state’s revenue from N600 million to over N8 billion in 2007. He also credited Tinubu for laying the groundwork for the development of strategic initiatives like the Lagos Red Line rail project through the establishment of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
“This is not just about his birthday. It is a celebration of Lagos and where his policies have carried us,” Obasa remarked.
In light of the occasion, the speaker instructed the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, to convey a congratulatory message to President Tinubu on behalf of the Assembly’s lawmakers, staff, and management.
Tinubu’s decision to forego birthday celebrations underscores a focus on collective achievements and the progress of Lagos under his leadership, as recognized by the Lagos State Assembly.
