In a remarkable display of community vigilance, residents of Lagos rallied together to thwart the criminal activities of a notorious ‘one-chance’ robbery gang. Reports indicate that the gang would prowl the streets of Lagos, posing as legitimate transportation providers, only to lure unsuspecting passengers into their trap. Once aboard, victims would find themselves at the mercy of the criminals, who would then proceed to rob them of their belongings before abandoning them at remote locations.
However, the reign of terror came to an abrupt end when the vigilant citizens of Lagos decided enough was enough. Armed with information provided by concerned members of the public, the authorities swiftly moved to apprehend the perpetrators. Okoro and Patience were nabbed in the early hours of Saturday, February 17, thanks to the timely intervention of law enforcement.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source revealed the modus operandi of the gang, highlighting their frequent presence around the Olososun Ojota area. “Some suspected thieves are always parking around the Olososun Ojota area in the pretense of taking passengers to their destination but instead take them to an unknown destination and steal from them,” the source disclosed.
Furthermore, one brave victim stepped forward to positively identify Okoro and Patience, recounting her harrowing experience and detailing the theft of N37,000 from her just two weeks prior. The swift action of the Lagos State Police Command, coupled with the unwavering cooperation of the community, ensured that justice would be served.
Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, assuring the public that the suspects would face the full consequences of their actions. “The incident has been reported. The suspect will be arraigned at the conclusion of the investigation,” Hundeyin affirmed.
As the news of the arrests spread throughout Lagos, a sense of relief washed over the city. Once again, the resilience and unity of its residents had prevailed, sending a clear message to would-be criminals that the people of Lagos would not tolerate such brazen acts of lawlessness.
