booked an Uber ride to Ajah on January 9, 2025. During the journey, they and two accomplices allegedly stabbed the driver, Seyi Fowler, fatally injuring him. Despite escaping the scene initially, two of the suspects were later arrested at their hideout.

At a press conference on Saturday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olarewaju Ishola, detailed the incident. The stolen Toyota Camry was recovered and handed over to the victim’s family, though the driver tragically succumbed to his injuries.

“The suspects tied the driver’s hands and legs, sealed his mouth, and left his body by the roadside,” CP Ishola explained, urging Uber drivers to remain vigilant and ensure passenger safety.

“This is the third such incident reported to the command. Last year, similar cases of brutality surfaced. We are committed to ensuring that justice prevails and that suspects are brought to court,” he added.

The Lagos Police Force has also vowed to organize security meetings for drivers to provide them with essential safety tips to avoid such tragic incidents in the future.
