Man Arrested For Allegedly Using Fake Transfer To Purchase Phone In Osun

The incident reportedly took place on April 3 at the New Market within the vicinity of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Adepoju allegedly deceived a phone vendor into surrendering a mobile phone valued at N180,000.
According to the prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, the defendant orchestrated the fraudulent transaction by executing a fake transfer for the mentioned amount, contravening Section 157 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. Adepoju pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In defense, Samuel Obi, representing the accused, requested bail on lenient terms, assuring the court of Adepoju’s availability with credible sureties.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Taofeek Badmus granted the bail application, setting the bond at N500,000 along with two sureties who must match the bail amount.
The conditions imposed on the sureties included providing an affidavit of means, residency within the court’s jurisdiction, and one must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned to May 16 for further proceedings.
