According to TickPick, an online marketplace, the average ticket price for this Sunday’s match is approximately $690, marking a 527% increase compared to the average MLS ticket price before soccer superstar Leo Messi joined the league, which used to cost $110.

As the game approaches, the cheapest ticket to witness Messi in action is currently priced at $785. Without Messi’s presence, ticket prices drop significantly, with the cheapest ticket for the subsequent LAFC game being 80% less expensive at $151 per seat, according to TickPick.

TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg suggests that ticket prices are likely to stabilize at their current level, although there is potential for an upward shift due to heightened demand. He notes that LAFC is one of the most popular MLS teams, contributing to consistently high demand. Additionally, the presence of one of the world’s biggest athletes, Messi, in town adds to the allure.

Since Messi’s arrival in the MLS, his appearances have consistently driven up ticket prices. For his regular season debut last week, ticket prices were nearly 1,000% higher than usual for a New York Red Bulls game.

The “Messi mania” extends beyond the field, with Apple reporting a surge in subscriptions to its soccer streaming package since Messi’s arrival in July. Adidas has also seen “truly unprecedented” demand for Messi’s jersey, resulting in a backlog of orders until October.
