According to Ireporter Online, media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has stated that she does not intend to promote her films through dance videos, explaining that such methods do not align with her personality or strengths.

Speaking at the Lagos Business of Film Summit, Abudu discussed the evolving strategies for film promotion in Nigeria, noting that while dance routines have proven effective for some filmmakers, they are not a universal approach.

Abudu commended popular filmmakers Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham for leveraging energetic dance routines to attract audiences to cinemas, describing their dedication and vitality as impressive. However, she emphasized that she personally lacks the energy or skill to adopt this style of promotion.

She revealed that she has instructed her team that dancing will not form part of her personal marketing efforts, and that other team members can manage such promotional activities if required.

Abudu stressed that the film industry must recognize that there is no single formula for achieving box office success. She urged filmmakers to identify strategies that align with their individual strengths while adapting to changing audience tastes and marketing demands.

“I look at people, Funke and Toyin, and I’m like, I don’t know where they get the energy to do all of this,” Abudu said. “I have told my team, me I can’t dance. So go and look for someone who will do the dancing because it is not going to be me. We have to understand what it requires now for there to be a box office success in Nigeria.”
