Momoh Receives NSE Leadership, Reaffirms Partnership With Engineering Body (Video)

The leadership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar E. Momoh, FNSE, at his office in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, aimed at strengthening collaboration and establishing a solid foundation for sustained professional partnership.

The visit featured members of both the current and incoming leadership of the Society, underscoring continuity and institutional stability within the NSE. The delegation comprised Engr. Mrs. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, President of the NSE; Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, Deputy President and incoming President of the Society effective January 1, 2026; and Engr. M. B. Shettima, FNSE, Chairman of the NSE, Maiduguri Branch.

The engagement built on existing interactions between the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Ministry, while providing a strategic opportunity for the outgoing and incoming leadership of the Society to jointly interface with the Minister. It allowed both institutions to align shared priorities in support of Nigeria’s regional development objectives and formally present the incoming leadership, reaffirming the NSE’s commitment to sustained cooperation with the Ministry.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in infrastructure development, adherence to professional standards, capacity building, and the strategic role of engineering expertise in delivering sustainable and inclusive growth across Nigeria’s regions.

The NSE delegation commended the Ministry for its consistent engagement with professional bodies, noting that the partnership has continued to enhance technical oversight, project quality, and value for public investment.

In his remarks, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the NSE. He emphasised that effective regional development must be anchored on professionalism, technical integrity, and collaboration with recognised professional institutions.

The Minister further noted that the Ministry views its relationship with the NSE as institutional and enduring, assuring the Society of continued partnership beyond leadership transitions.

The visit reaffirmed the shared resolve of both institutions to deepen cooperation and position engineering excellence as a critical driver of Nigeria’s development agenda.
