Why Would You Think I Hate You?” – Davido Opens Up On Omah Lay Collaboration

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has explained the reasoning behind his collaboration with fellow artist Omah Lay, emphasizing that it was aimed at clarifying any misconceptions about his feelings toward the singer.

According to reports, Omah Lay had previously suggested that he believed Davido harbored negative feelings toward him, until the DMW boss played his songs during a popular livestream with American streamer Kai Cenat in Lagos State.

Davido revealed that he reached out to Omah Lay after noticing a tweet in which the singer expressed surprise at Davido’s recognition of his music. “Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never met,” Davido reportedly messaged Omah Lay, leading to further exchanges.

The pair eventually collaborated on four songs, selecting “With You” as their official release. The track features on Davido’s fifth studio album, 5ive, and has already earned a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
