President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s screening and confirmation of Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to Ireporter Online, the presidential request was presented during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who subsequently directed it to the Committee of the Whole for immediate legislative consideration. The committee has been mandated to expedite deliberations and submit its report without delay.

The nomination comes shortly after President Tinubu made changes to his cabinet, including the removal of Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, as well as Ahmed Dangiwa from his ministerial position.

In a related development, the President also forwarded the name of Lamido Abubakar Yuguda to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The request was referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, which is expected to present its findings within one week.

Furthermore, Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the reappointment of Benedict Umeno as a member of the Code of Conduct Bureau, representing the South-East geopolitical zone. The matter has been assigned to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption, which is also expected to report back within seven days.
