“E Dey Play, E Dey Show” in Court as Alleged Ritualist Faces Kidnap, Murder Charges
Three individuals, including a man identified as a suspected ritualist, were arraigned before the Enugu North Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over allegations of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. The accused, Obi-Levi Obieze—popularly known by the alias “E dey play, E dey show”—was brought before the court alongside Sebastine Offor and Ejike Odinwamkpa.
According to court proceedings, the trio is alleged to have been involved in the abduction of three victims: 13-year-old Ukamaka Okoye, 15-year-old Chimaobi Ezi, and 31-year-old Joy Udokamma. The prosecution alleged that two of the victims, Ezi and Udokamma, were killed during the course of the crimes.
The incident reportedly took place in April 2025 in the Umuojo Isiagu area of Umumba community, located in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. Prosecuting counsel Justice Attah informed the court that other accomplices remain at large and that the investigation remains ongoing.
Chief Magistrate O.S. Chukwuani ordered the remand of the defendants at the Enugu Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution at the Enugu State Ministry of Justice. The magistrate also clarified that the accused reserve the right to apply for bail through the State High Court.
The offences, as presented, are punishable under Section 495(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol II of the Revised Laws of Enugu State 2004, and Section 315(2) of the Criminal Code (Amendment) Law No. 14 of 2010.
The case was adjourned until August 20 for further proceedings.
