Kano Political Shake-Up As Two Lawmakers Defect From ADC
According to Ireporter Online, two members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal developments within the party as the reason for their decisions.
Sani Adamu Wakili, who represents the Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, confirmed his resignation in a letter dated May 2, 2026, addressed to the party chairman in Zango Ward of Ungogo Local Government Area. He stated that his exit took immediate effect, explaining that recent changes at the national level of the party had made it increasingly difficult for him to remain actively engaged and contribute meaningfully to its affairs. Despite his departure, Wakili emphasized his continued commitment to serving his constituents and maintaining focus on his legislative responsibilities.
Similarly, Yusuf Umar Datti, the lawmaker representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency, also tendered his resignation on the same day. His letter was addressed to the party chairman in Tanawa Ward, Kura Local Government Area, and indicated that his decision became effective immediately. Datti attributed his exit to developments within the party’s national structure, noting that the situation had hindered his ability to effectively participate and contribute. He, however, reaffirmed his dedication to representing the interests of his constituents, regardless of his political affiliation.
