Desmond Elliott Begs Gbajabiamila: “I’m Sorry If I’ve Wronged You
According to Ireporter Online, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliott, has publicly sought forgiveness from the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, stating that if he has in any way offended him during his time in office, he is deeply sorry and seeks reconciliation.
Elliott made the appeal shortly after obtaining his nomination form to contest again for the Surulere Constituency I seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described Gbajabiamila as a senior political leader and a guiding figure within the political space, noting that he holds him in high regard.
The Nollywood actor-turned-politician emphasized that if any missteps were made in the course of his legislative duties, they were unintentional, adding that he is seeking another opportunity to continue serving his constituency and to further enhance the delivery of democratic dividends.
He stated that leadership comes with learning and humility, adding that any shortcomings on his part should be forgiven to allow for continued progress in service delivery. He further expressed readiness to move forward in unity, focusing on development and better representation for his constituents.
Addressing speculations surrounding his political ambition, Elliott dismissed claims that certain groups, including the Surulere Accountability Forum, had rejected his candidacy. He said he was not aware of such a group and described the reports as politically motivated narratives aimed at creating confusion.
He maintained that his engagement with constituents remains direct and consistent, insisting that he continues to maintain strong grassroots connections within Surulere.
Defending his intention to seek another term, Elliott argued that legislative experience plays a key role in effective representation, explaining that returning lawmakers are often better positioned to secure projects and opportunities for their constituencies due to their deeper understanding of parliamentary processes and networks.
