According to Ireporter Online, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in the 2027 presidential poll despite growing opposition coalitions.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Okpebholo maintained that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi have all had opportunities in leadership but, in his view, failed to deliver meaningful progress for Nigeria.

He argued that President Tinubu’s administration has introduced significant reforms and policies that are already yielding positive results, insisting that such achievements position him strongly for a second term.

The Edo governor also attributed the country’s insecurity challenges to what he described as “evil forces,” alleging that some individuals are deliberately worsening the situation to discredit the government.

He further claimed that opposition figures are leveraging insecurity narratives to mislead Nigerians about the performance of the current administration.

Okpebholo stated that Tinubu remains the most viable option on the ballot, adding that no contender surpasses the president’s credentials based on past records and current governance outcomes. He specifically referenced Atiku Abubakar’s tenure as Vice President, noting his involvement in the privatization programme, while maintaining that the opposition figures mentioned have previously held roles in government without delivering transformative change.

He concluded with a firm assertion that President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is, in his words, “as good as won.”
