APC Elders Back Tinubu, Namadi, Acquire ₦150 Million Nomination Forms
According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Committee in Jigawa State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi as sole candidates for the 2027 general elections, following the purchase of nomination forms valued at ₦150 million for both leaders.
The endorsement was disclosed by the Jigawa State APC Chairman, Ahmed Garba, during a strategic meeting held with Governor Namadi in Dutse. He explained that the decision came after wide-ranging consultations among party elders, stakeholders, and key political actors across the state.
Garba noted that the move was aimed at reinforcing unity within the party and ensuring continuity in governance at both the federal and state levels. He added that the endorsement reflects a collective resolve to sustain development gains recorded under the current leadership.
The development comes as the APC released its timetable for the 2027 elections, with the presidential primary scheduled for May 15 and 16, 2026. Under the party’s guidelines, presidential aspirants are expected to pay ₦100 million for expression of interest and nomination forms, while governorship aspirants are required to pay ₦50 million.
The Jigawa APC Elders Committee also adopted a consensus approach for the party’s primaries, describing it as a deliberate strategy to reduce internal conflicts and present a united front ahead of the elections. Party leaders said the approach would enhance stability within the APC and boost its chances in the 2027 polls.
Stakeholders expressed confidence in the leadership of Tinubu and Namadi, citing achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, education, and economic reforms as key indicators of performance. They further stated that the early endorsement would consolidate party support and strengthen preparations for a decisive electoral outing.
The committee maintained that the decision represents the collective aspiration of stakeholders in Jigawa State to sustain ongoing development efforts and secure victory for the APC at all levels of government.
