Top Nigerian Football Stars In Top Form: Osimhen, Olayinka, And Ibrahim Hit The Target
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian footballers delivered standout performances across Europe over the weekend, with Victor Osimhen leading the headlines after marking a strong return from injury in Turkey.
In Istanbul, Osimhen inspired Galatasaray to a commanding 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Fenerbahçe in a crucial Turkish Super Lig clash that strengthened their title charge. The striker opened the scoring shortly before half-time, reacting sharply to finish from close range with his knee. Barış Alper Yılmaz converted from the spot before Lucas Torreira sealed the derby win. Osimhen now has 13 league goals and four assists in 20 appearances, with Galatasaray sitting seven points clear and only three matches remaining.
In England, Frank Onyeka capped a successful spell with Coventry City by providing an assist in their 3-1 victory over Wrexham as they celebrated the Championship title in front of home fans. Onyeka, who joined in January, set up the final goal late in the match after being booked in the first half. Meanwhile, Arthur Okonkwo remained on the bench for Wrexham as their promotion playoff hopes remain uncertain heading into the final fixtures.
Rofiat Imuran also made a return from injury, coming off the bench late in London City Lionesses’ emphatic 5-1 win over Leicester City, marking her first appearance after a lengthy spell out.
In France, Moses Simon returned from injury and featured for 69 minutes, though Paris FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lille, ending their strong unbeaten run. Chidozie Awaziem did not feature as Nantes slipped further into relegation trouble after a 2-1 loss to Rennes.
Victor Boniface returned to the matchday squad for Werder Bremen for the first time since knee surgery, making the bench in their 1-1 draw with Stuttgart, while Felix Agu missed out again due to injury.
In Spain, Sevilla’s struggles continued following a 2-1 defeat to Osasuna, with Akor Adams given limited minutes despite being their top scorer this season, while Chidera Ejuke remained an unused substitute as the club dropped into the relegation zone.
Raphael Onyedika made a welcome return from injury, playing his part in Club Brugge’s 2-0 win over Gent to boost their title ambitions in Belgium.
In Scotland, Emmanuel Fernandez played the full 90 minutes in Rangers’ narrow 3-2 defeat to Motherwell, a setback in their title pursuit despite a solid individual performance.
In Cyprus, Peter Olayinka continued his impressive form, scoring in APOEL’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Pafos, making it back-to-back games on the scoresheet, while Francis Uzoho remained sidelined with injury.
Terem Moffi featured for Porto for 30 minutes in their 2-1 win over Estrela but was unable to add to his goal tally, while Zaidu Sanusi continues his recovery from injury. In Latvia, Hussein Ibrahim extended his scoring run with his fourth goal in eight matches in Auda’s 2-1 win over Tukums 2000, while Ede Oloko also scored in reply, taking his tally to five in seven games despite the defeat.
