Cubana Chief Priest Calls For An End To The Counterproductive ‘Sit-At-Home’ Culture In South-East
According to reports, popular celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest has called for an end to the long-standing practice of staying at home on Mondays in the South-East region of Nigeria. Speaking on social media, he criticized the tradition of keeping children out of school and closing markets and businesses at the start of the week, describing it as both harmful and counterproductive.
In an effort to challenge the practice, Cubana Chief Priest organized an impromptu concert on Monday, urging residents to embrace productivity, pursue education, and engage in business activities. He emphasized that Mondays present a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge in schools and generate income through commerce.
The nightlife entrepreneur also linked the region’s push for educational and economic activity on Mondays to broader political implications, noting that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu could influence negotiations during the 2027 elections. He urged citizens to focus on building wisdom and wealth in the South-East.
In addition, Cubana Chief Priest called on government authorities to support schools and businesses operating on Mondays by providing enhanced security and to remove market leaders who enforce Monday shutdowns. He highlighted that the South-East remains safe and conducive for trade and learning throughout the week, aside from public holidays.
He further pointed out the inconsistency of the tradition, noting that people already engage in recreational activities like partying and street football on Mondays, questioning why business and schooling should be neglected. He concluded by encouraging the community to work collectively toward advancing education, commerce, and prosperity in the region.
