Napoli Reject Galatasaray €65m Offer For Osimhen
Italian club Napoli have turned down a €65m bid from Galatasaray for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, IREPORTER Sports Extra reports.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Turkish giants attempted to make Osimhen’s loan move permanent but fell short of his €75m release clause…READ MORE…
The 26-year-old joined Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season without a purchase option. However, Galatasaray holds a unique negotiating advantage due to a compensation clause in the agreement.
If Osimhen transfers to another club in January, Galatasaray will receive €6m in compensation, effectively raising his release clause to €81m for other clubs during the winter transfer window.
This exclusive arrangement allows Galatasaray to secure Osimhen for €75m this month, while other clubs can trigger the same release clause in the summer.
Osimhen’s Rising Value
Osimhen’s initial release clause was set at €130m but was reduced last summer when he renewed his contract with Napoli before moving to Galatasaray.
Since joining the Turkish league leaders, the Nigerian forward has been in outstanding form, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances.
Osimhen Commits to Galatasaray Until Summer
In December, Osimhen reaffirmed his commitment to completing his loan spell, stating, “I will not leave in January, I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season.
“I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are discussing, but if they approach me, we will talk.”
Osimhen’s stock has soared following his sensational 2022/23 campaign with Napoli, where he netted 26 goals to claim the Serie A Golden Boot and helped the club secure their first league title in over 30 years.
