NDLEA Seizes Methamphetamine Concealed In Music Speakers From Malaysian Returnee

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old former convict and Malaysian returnee, Ndubuisi Udatu (also known as Richard), who was caught trafficking methamphetamine. During the operation, Udatu was found in possession of two large music speakers used to conceal four parcels of methamphetamine weighing 2.7 kilograms. The drugs were intended for distribution in Yola and Mubi, Adamawa State, as well as across the border into Cameroon.

According to the NDLEA, Udatu, in his statement, revealed that he returned to Nigeria to resume his illicit drug trade after serving a prison sentence in Malaysia for drug trafficking offenses.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers, in collaboration with customs officials, arrested a trans-border drug trafficker at the Nigeria-Cameroon border in Mfum, Cross River State. The trafficker, 35-year-old Odoh Peter Ikechukwu, was found with 8,740 ampoules of various opioids, totaling 395 kilograms. The drugs included fentanyl, morphine, phenobarbital, pethidine, and midazolam injections.

Additionally, NDLEA operatives arrested 27-year-old Aliyu Ibrahim in Kano on April 11, 2025, with 20 ATM cards and 25,600 tramadol pills. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of 48-year-old Gambo Lawan in Gwagwalada, FCT, after officers seized 8,960 tramadol pills during a routine check.

On April 11, 2025, NDLEA operatives also recovered 124 kilograms of cannabis from a Lexus car along the Mokwa-Jebba road in Niger State. The vehicle was driven by 58-year-old Ademiluyi Adedapo Collins.

Furthermore, NDLEA commands nationwide have been actively conducting social advocacy campaigns through the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA). These campaigns have included sensitization lectures at schools, markets, worship centers, and community events across various states, including Anambra, Lagos, FCT, Oyo, and Adamawa.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the agency’s efforts and urged officers to continue intensifying their operations against drug cartels, while also focusing on reducing the demand for illicit substances.
