In a statement titled ‘DISCLAIMER: SARS REMAINS DISSOLVED – FPRO’ and signed by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the police clarified on Monday morning that any reports suggesting otherwise are false and misleading.

Describing the circulating reports as baseless rumors, Adejobi emphasized that SARS, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, has not been reinstated under any guise.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to debunk circulating rumors and misinformation speculating the return of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) with a reformed set of rules. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad which was disbanded on the 11th of October 2020, remains dissolved,” the statement read.

He advised Nigerians to verify the authenticity of any information they come across before sharing, urging citizens to rely on official police channels for accurate updates.

“To ensure receiving accurate and reliable updates, citizens are advised to follow the official handles of the Nigeria Police Force on social media viz @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.
