Nigerian Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday in honor of the nation’s 64th Independence Day celebration. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad. He acknowledged the resilience and dedication of the Nigerian people, emphasizing that their hard work and sacrifices would eventually yield positive results for the nation.

The minister also called on Nigerians to reflect on the “labour of our heroes past” and to remain inspired by the responsibilities ahead. He stressed that building the Nigeria of our dreams can only be achieved through unity and collective effort.

As the country prepares for its Independence Day anniversary, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to remain committed to nation-building and to take pride in the progress being made. He wished everyone a joyful and reflective Independence Day celebration.
