This statement, issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye, was in response to media reports suggesting that certain stakeholders were pushing for an Egba-born former two-term federal lawmaker to be the party’s candidate in the upcoming election.

To clarify, the party stated, “For the sake of clarity and with full responsibility, the matter of the 2027 governorship candidacy is not currently under discussion among the party and its leaders.”

The party emphasized that its current focus is on supporting Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun as he undertakes his legacy projects, which are expected to enhance the party’s image ahead of the next general elections.

While members are free to express their support for preferred candidates, the party cautioned against spreading misinformation that could incite unnecessary tensions and rumors.

It also reminded members that established structures and procedures are in place to impose sanctions on those who breach party protocols.
