On a cold Tuesday morning, Suffolk Police in England discovered the lifeless body of Taiwo Owoeye Abodunde, a nurse and mother of three, in her home.
The police’s visit was prompted by a follow-up related to a previous report of assault made against her estranged husband, David Olubunni Abodunde.
The police found her dead during a pre-arranged meeting to gather evidence for assault allegations against her husband. Olubunni Abodunde was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the force’s response due to a previous correspondence with Taiwo’s family over assault allegations.
The police had mistakenly recorded the wrong address on the bail conditions, contributing to the tragic events.
The late Taiwo and her estranged husband, Olubunmi Abodunde, both originally from Ekiti state, Nigeria, had a troubled marriage marred by domestic violence, control issues, and distrust.
The tragedy has dominated conversations in the neighboring towns of Igogo and Ipoti Ekiti, where the couple hailed from. Family interventions and town leaders had previously addressed marital issues between them.
The relocation to the United Kingdom in November 2022 was hoped to offer a fresh start, but the marital challenges persisted, leading to Taiwo’s tragic death.
The incident has caused shock and sadness in the communities, raising concerns about domestic violence and the need for proper intervention in such cases.
