Nigerian Troops Apprehend Notorious Terrorists

Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday. He also confirmed that 75 rehabilitated former terrorists were handed over to the Borno State Government, while several insurgents were neutralized in recent military operations.

Among those rehabilitated are seven adult males, 34 adult females, and 34 children.

Between March 10 and 20, 2025, security forces arrested 23 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen petroleum products valued at ₦461.78 million. Additionally, 247,629 liters of stolen crude oil and 198,374 liters of illegally refined diesel were seized, while 21 illegal refining sites were dismantled.

The operations also led to the confiscation of various weapons, including AK-47 rifles, locally made guns, pump-action shotguns, RPG tubes, and a significant amount of ammunition. Several crude oil processing ovens, dugout pits, boats, storage tanks, and drums used in illegal refining were also destroyed.

The Nigerian military reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and curbing illegal activities nationwide, emphasizing that all individuals involved in criminal operations would face justice.
