In a statement released on Sunday by the ministry’s spokesperson, Francisca K. Omayuli, it was stated, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been made aware of the circulating news on social media claiming that the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger, H.E. Mohammed Sani Usman, was expelled on Friday, 25th August 2023, and given 48 hours to depart the country.”
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to affirm that this information is untrue and should therefore be dismissed. The Nigerian Federal Government cautions against the dissemination of unverified information that could undermine the ongoing mediation efforts by ECOWAS in the political situation in Niger.”
