In a recent announcement via its official channels, the NIMC introduced a mobile application allowing users to rectify inaccuracies in their National Identification Number (NIN) data, including names, dates of birth, and phone numbers.
Initially, the NIMC did not specify fees for data modifications. However, in response to user feedback regarding technical issues with the mobile app, the commission later revealed varying fees for different self-service options.
Presently, individuals are required to pay the following fees for correcting personal data on the NIMC App:
- N1,522.5 for Name Correction
- N16,340 for Date of Birth Correction
- N1,522.5 for Address Correction
- N1,522.5 for Email Correction
These fees reflect the NIMC’s ongoing efforts to streamline and improve services related to updating information on the NIN database. Previous fee schedules in 2021 ranged from N5,000 to N15,000, depending on the type of correction required, as explained by Funmi Opensanwo, the former NIMC regional coordinator in Alausa, Lagos.
