NLC, TUC Stage Protest, Close KEDCO And NERC Offices In Kebbi Over Tariff Hike
Organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), a protest in Kebbi State resulted in the shutdown of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) and Nigerian Electricity as Regulatory Commission (NERC) offices. Led by Comrade Murtala Usman, the NLC Chairman for Kebbi State, the unions demanded an immediate reversal of the recent electricity tariff increase by the Federal Government and NERC, citing ongoing issues with electricity supply across the country. They also criticized the privatization of the electricity sector, arguing it has failed to address stability concerns while burdening Nigerians with the costs of infrastructure faults.
