NNPC Retail Educates 1,000 Auto Mechanics On CNG And Oleum Lubricants

The conference included hands-on demonstrations of the process of converting vehicles from gasoline to CNG, giving mechanics a firsthand understanding of the conversion process.

During the session, Baba Shettima Kukawa, Executive Director of Retail Operations & Mobility at NRL, encouraged mechanics to acquire the necessary skills for CNG conversion, emphasizing its growing importance in shaping the future of Nigeria’s automotive industry.

 

“We believe that educating mechanics on the significance of CNG adoption is essential for achieving Nigeria’s long-term energy goals. This engagement raised awareness, but we urge artisans to actively pursue the skills needed to support this transformative shift toward cleaner, more affordable fuel options. This initiative is a key step in advancing Nigeria’s transition to a more sustainable energy future,” Kukawa said.

In response, the Chairmen of the Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) and the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) praised NRL for its proactive stance and called for the expansion of the initiative to include more mechanics and technicians across the country.

 

Both associations stressed the need for ongoing efforts to support Nigeria’s move towards cleaner energy solutions.

Additionally, NRL provided auto mechanics with coveralls, toolboxes, and generators to improve their business operations and promote sustainability during the event.

NNPC Retail’s push for CNG as an alternative fuel aligns with NNPC Ltd’s broader vision to reduce Nigeria’s environmental impact while making fuel more affordable for consumers.
