society groups, amidst the deteriorating security situation in the region.

Speaking in response to comments by Catholic priest Fr. Chibuzo Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Fr. Ebube Muonso, Ozigbo highlighted the state’s alarming crime rate. Fr. Ebube Muonso recently condemned the rising levels of violence in a viral social media video, urging Governor Chukwuma Soludo to take decisive measures against armed groups.

According to Ozigbo:
“Anambra currently ranks highest in insecurity in the South East. Every week brings news of killings and abductions, yet the government appears indifferent. What is even more shocking is the conspiracy of silence among elites—religious leaders, Igwes, business leaders, and civil society groups.”

Ozigbo further denounced attacks on Fr. Ebube Muonso by government officials, including the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor.

“When Fr. Muonso raised concerns about the dire security situation, he was met with insults and baseless accusations by government agents. The response from the Information Commissioner, in particular, was shocking and unbecoming of a public officeholder, especially one claiming to be a knight of the Church. This behavior is disgraceful and warrants an unreserved apology.”

He added:
“When did it become a crime for citizens to voice concerns over harmful government policies? Are we no longer in a democracy?”

Ozigbo urged Governor Soludo to intensify efforts to combat the activities of non-state actors destabilizing the state.
