NPFL Controversy: Remo Stars Coach Brutally Attacked In Lagos After Draw
The Nigeria Premier League Club Managers Association (NPLCMA) has strongly condemned the recent assault on Sulaiman Kamil, the assistant coach of Remo Stars, following the team’s match against Ikorodu City. The attack occurred after Remo Stars’ 1-1 draw with Ikorodu City on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
The NPLCMA, under the leadership of Chairman Gbenga Ogunbote, expressed deep concern over the violent incident and has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to take immediate and decisive action to prevent such occurrences in the future. The association stressed the need for better protection for coaches, players, and officials within the league.
In the aftermath of the draw, Remo Stars’ assistant coach, Kamil, was reportedly targeted by an unidentified individual, sparking outrage within the football community.
Meanwhile, Plateau United’s technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, voiced his frustration after his team suffered a 1-0 loss to Lobi Stars, leaving them in a precarious 16th place on the league table. Mangut acknowledged the team’s lack of concentration towards the end of the match, which ultimately cost them valuable points.
Despite the defeat, Mangut remains focused on improving the team’s performance as they prepare for their upcoming match against Enyimba in Jos. The Peace Boys are determined to bounce back and climb higher up the standings as the season progresses.
