Commandant Olatunde Maku, speaking at the agency’s headquarters in Awka while parading the suspects, highlighted the NSCDC’s commitment to regulating private security guards, particularly amidst prevailing security challenges.

The arrests stemmed from a recent crackdown on unlicensed private security guards in Awka, with the NSCDC affirming its resolve to curb the activities of unauthorized security outfits.

Maku disclosed, “Preliminary investigation revealed that some of the arrested suspects were impersonating the Anambra Vigilance Group, while others were hired by hotels to provide security services, despite knowing that the outfits were not licensed or registered.”

The ongoing raid aims to deter the proliferation of illegal security outfits and minimize security breaches and criminal activities. Maku asserted the command’s determination to dismantle illegal operations, arrest perpetrators, and recover illicit weapons.

He warned, “All illegal security outfits are forbidden in the state. I want to put all illegal security outfits on notice to dismantle their operations or face the consequences.”

The suspects are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly, underscoring the NSCDC’s efforts to enhance safety and security for all Anambra residents.
