Orji Kalu Breaks Silence: “Truth Will Outlive Propaganda” Amid Youths’ Threat

The former Abia State governor made the allegation while responding to renewed threats by a youth group in Abia State, which declared him unwelcome in the Ohafia community. In a statement issued on Thursday by his Media and Public Affairs Team, Kalu dismissed the claims against him as misleading and unrepresentative of the general sentiment across Abia North.

He maintained that he continues to enjoy widespread support across the five local government areas in the senatorial zone, including Ohafia. The statement noted that communities in Arochukwu, Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato and Umunneochi remain firmly supportive of his leadership, which it described as built on years of visible service, principled representation and courageous advocacy.

The statement further asserted that Kalu has remained a consistent voice for Igbo interests at the national level while delivering development projects and sustaining active engagement with his constituents, factors it said have strengthened his political standing in the district.

“Truth will always outlive propaganda, and leadership rooted in service will always command enduring support across Abia North,” the statement added.

Kalu’s response followed renewed agitation by members of the Ohafia Youth Association, who on Wednesday restated their earlier position that the senator remains persona non grata in the community over events connected to the 2023 general elections. Led by chairman Obasi Kalu Obasi and secretary Onyekachi Uduma, the group accused the senator of allegedly portraying Ohafia as a stronghold of the Indigenous People of Biafra during the election period, a claim they said resulted in heightened security deployment, voter intimidation and widespread disenfranchisement.
