PDP Sets May 4 For Crucial NEC Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for Monday, May 4, 2026, as part of its ongoing internal engagements ahead of the next electoral cycle.

According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made via the party’s official social media platforms on Saturday, confirming that the high-level meeting will commence at 2:00 pm. The decision to convene the meeting followed a resolution endorsed by a two-thirds majority of NEC members, in compliance with provisions outlined in the party’s constitution governing its internal operations.

Attendance at the meeting has been restricted strictly to statutory members of the NEC. Those expected to be present include PDP governors, members of the National Assembly under the party’s platform, members of the Board of Trustees, state chairmen, and national ex-officio members. Also listed are former members of the National Working Committee, ex-governors produced by the party, principal officers in the National Assembly, as well as other key stakeholders integral to the NEC framework.

The party indicated that the gathering will provide an avenue to deliberate on critical issues impacting its structure, with particular emphasis on strengthening unity, enhancing internal mechanisms, and positioning the party strategically as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The notice reiterated that participation is limited to duly recognized NEC members in line with constitutional provisions, stressing the committee’s commitment to stability, cohesion, internal democracy, and discipline within the party. It further underscored the PDP’s focus on inclusivity and its broader objective of advancing the welfare of Nigerians as it sets its sights on electoral success in 2027.
