Obi, in a statement shared via his official social media handle, described the incident as tragic and disheartening, emphasizing the dire consequences of hunger in the country.
He decried the alarming levels of hunger plaguing Nigeria, stating that such a situation should not be occurring in a nation endowed with abundant human and natural resources.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the entire Nasarawa State University community, and the state government, Obi called for urgent measures to address food insecurity in the country.
He stressed the need for a shift from consumption to production, highlighting the importance of harnessing Nigeria’s agricultural potential to feed the nation and contribute to food security across Africa.
