Peter Obi: Wike Spills Fresh Revelation About 2023 Presidential Election Voting

Wike and Peter Obi

During an exclusive appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” program, Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), offered insights into his support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, 2023 election.

Wike shared that he stood by the APC candidate, President Bola Tinubu, rather than his party’s nominee, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

When questioned about the potential economic handling by Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) flag bearer, compared to Tinubu, had Obi been elected, Wike offered his perspective.

He emphasized his focus on discussing matters related to the economy and the presidency, steering clear of delving into specific commentary about social media discourse.

Wike underscored his belief that if Obi had possessed stronger credentials as a candidate, Nigerian voters would likely have favored him over others.

It’s important to note that in the election results, Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, secured the third position, while the APC candidate, Tinubu, emerged as the victor. Subsequently, the LP and PDP candidates have taken legal action to challenge the validity of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the election.

The legal proceedings reflect the ongoing efforts to address the outcomes of the election through the appropriate legal channels.
