Obi, Obidients Speechless As Tribunal Dismisses LP’s Petition Against APC (DETAILS)
The National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal convened in Ikeja, Lagos, has made the decision to dismiss the petition submitted by Abiodun Dabiri, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), against the election victory of Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun, who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the duly-elected senator for Lagos State Central Senatorial District in the election held on February 25, 2023.
Chaired by Justice Ashua Ewah and consisting of a three-member panel, the tribunal upheld Eshinlokun’s election and deemed the petition submitted by Dabiri as lacking in merit.

The tribunal’s judgment, delivered yesterday, highlighted that the issue raised in the petition fell under the domain of pre-election matters, rendering the petition incompetent.
The tribunal’s other members, Justices Abdulahi Ozegya and M.A. Sambo, aligned with the perspective of Eshinlokun’s lead counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN), as well as the legal representatives for INEC and the APC. These representatives contended that the petition had no substantive basis and should be dismissed.
Consequently, the tribunal confirmed the legitimacy of the election outcome that declared Eshinlokun as the elected senator representing the Lagos Central district at the National Assembly.
