PHOTOS: Fire Engulfs Storage Facility In Oyo, Causing Significant Damage

A fire incident on Saturday, April 5, 2025, resulted in the destruction of herbal products valued at several million naira at a storage facility in Oyo town, Oyo State.

Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the occurrence in a statement released on Sunday, noting that the fire broke out at Olanlokun Junction, Obabi Street, in the Old Cele area. The alarm was raised at 10:39 AM, and firefighters arrived on the scene just six minutes later.

Upon arrival, the fire brigade found large quantities of local herbs stored within a residential building engulfed in flames. Akinyinka reported, “We promptly initiated firefighting efforts and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the main structure and adjacent buildings.”

He added that the quick response of the fire service helped to save properties worth several million naira. The firefighting efforts continued for over three hours, primarily due to the extensive pile of herbs involved in the blaze.
