Police Arrest 15 Individuals For Public Disturbance In Bauchi

In a press release issued to the media on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil provided details about the incident. He stated that the group was involved in attacking innocent civilians and specifically targeted the Civilian Joint Task Force office situated near Kandahar Primary School.
Wakil reported that the assailants set fire to both the Civilian JTF office and part of the State Government Primary School.
“During the unrest, members of the Civilian JTF confronted the attackers, resulting in one assailant, identified as 22-year-old Saidu Musa, sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest from a homemade firearm,” he explained.
In response to the situation, police operatives were quickly dispatched to the scene to defuse the tension and evacuate Saidu Musa to Specialist Hospital for medical care.

Wakil revealed that preliminary investigations revealed that on December 18, 2024, members of the Civilian JTF encountered a group of unruly youths in the Kandahar area. Following this encounter, these youths regrouped on December 19 and launched a violent assault on the Civilian JTF office and the government primary school, causing damage and distress to innocent citizens.
He noted that the rapid response from police operatives helped bring the situation under control.
Additionally, the PPRO stated that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, condemned these unprovoked attacks on government properties. He urged the people of Bauchi State to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report any concerns to the appropriate authorities.
The statement also indicated that the police commissioner has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
