Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, CP Fayoade emphasized the urgency of addressing concerns raised by residents regarding such criminal activities occurring in various parts of the state.
The CP assured residents that the police have implemented robust measures to tackle these challenges effectively. Specifically, he mentioned the reactivation of tracking devices as a strategic initiative aimed at curbing incidents of kidnapping and ‘One Chance’ crimes.
Highlighting the effectiveness of these measures, CP Fayoade cited a recent kidnapping incident in Idimu where the police were able to neutralize the threat and ensure the safe return of the victims without succumbing to ransom demands.
Furthermore, he underscored the heightened visibility of police personnel in identified high-risk areas, such as Igbogbo, Ijede, and waterfront communities, to deter criminals from carrying out their nefarious activities.
Additionally, CP Fayoade emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies and neighboring states, particularly Ogun State, to enhance security along the border areas. Through joint patrols and coordinated efforts, law enforcement agencies aim to prevent criminals from exploiting the porous borders between states.
The CP’s proactive approach and commitment to leveraging technology and inter-agency collaboration demonstrate the police force’s determination to protect residents and ensure the safety and security of Lagos State.
As the reactivated tracking devices and strengthened partnerships with sister agencies are put into action, residents can expect increased vigilance and enforcement efforts aimed at disrupting criminal networks and safeguarding communities from the threat of ‘One Chance’ crime
