According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the raid, executed around 2:40 am on February 9, targeted the stronghold of kidnappers in the Mpape area, following actionable intelligence.
The operation proved successful as many notorious kidnappers, including kingpin Musa Wada (Sabo) Magaji, met their demise. The fierce gun battle lasted approximately 30 minutes, with the police force emerging victorious despite sustaining casualties.
This significant breakthrough comes on the heels of the neutralization of Musa Wada’s associate, Abubakar Wada, the previous day, leading authorities to the main hideout. Musa Wada, notorious for orchestrating numerous kidnappings for ransom across Abuja, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states, operated by identifying affluent targets and mobilizing armed gangs.
The raid, conducted with precision by the brave men of FIB-IRT, uncovered vital evidence, including mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, charms, and narcotics, crucial for ongoing investigations. Efforts are underway to recover additional arms and ammunition used by the criminal network.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring citizens’ safety. Through proactive measures and relentless pursuit, criminal networks will be dismantled, and perpetrators brought to justice, reinforcing the nation’s security and stability.
