service areas.

The outages, which impacted several 11kV feeders, were attributed to a combination of forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnections for non-payment of bills.

In a press release shared on its X (formerly Twitter) account late Saturday, IBEDC outlined the reasons behind the disruptions and assured customers of efforts to restore supply.

The statement read:
“We sincerely apologise for our inability to deliver the estimated hours of supply on your feeder. This was due to TCN [Transmission Company of Nigeria] planned outages, TCN load shedding, IBEDC forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnections for non-payment.

“Please note that the feeders mentioned have been restored, except for the Stadium 11kV feeder, which remains out due to disconnection for non-payment. We remain committed to supplying the estimated hours of electricity.”

The company also cited planned maintenance by TCN and unforeseen earth faults as significant contributors to the outages.

IBEDC encouraged customers to report faults promptly and ensure timely payment of bills to avoid further disruptions. The company also urged residents to contact their service centres or customer care hotlines during emergencies instead of attempting self-help to resolve issues.
