In a statement issued on Wednesday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Saturday.

According to Mbah, villagers noticed suspicious activity around the tower around 3 a.m. and swiftly intervened, capturing one suspect while others fled. The apprehended vandal was handed over to the police.

Commending the villagers’ vigilance, Mbah urged other host communities to take similar measures in protecting national infrastructure.

“TCN appreciates the people of Watuolo village for their swift response. We encourage other host communities to remain alert and take responsibility for safeguarding power installations in their areas,” she stated.

She reaffirmed TCN’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies and local communities to combat vandalism, emphasizing the critical role of residents in protecting essential infrastructure.

“As we continue working with security operatives and host communities, we appeal for increased vigilance, as residents are vital in this fight against vandalism,” she added.
