In a statement released by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu has directed that no celebrations be organized on his behalf or in his name. Instead, he has urged his associates and well-wishers to refrain from hosting any events and to channel any planned expenditure for goodwill advertorials towards charitable causes.
Citing the nation’s prevailing challenges and recent security incidents, President Tinubu emphasized the need to prioritize the country’s well-being over personal celebrations. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead Nigeria during such trying times and reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the lives of Nigerians.
The statement elucidated President Tinubu’s decision, highlighting the recent loss of security personnel in Delta State and escalating security breaches across the nation as factors influencing his directive. It emphasized that in light of these circumstances, celebrating a birthday would be inappropriate.
President Tinubu acknowledged the valor of the armed forces in recent operations but stressed the importance of reflection and rededication to the task of nation-building, particularly in fostering stability, security, prosperity, and unity in Nigeria.
Through this decision, President Tinubu aims to convey solidarity with the nation and underscore the need for collective efforts towards addressing pressing issues facing Nigeria.
