For every Muslim, this period holds special significance as it signifies the formal commencement of Ramadan, following the tradition established by Prophet Muhammad (S.a.w).

Dear Muslims, as we embark on this spiritual journey of fasting, devotion, and reflection lasting 29 or 30 days, it is imperative that we intensify our preparations for this sacred exercise.

As stated in the Quran (Q2:183), Allah has prescribed fasting for us as He did for those before us, with the purpose of attaining piety. The essence of fasting lies in attaining taqwa, deepening our connection with Allah through the noble act of abstaining from food, drink, and intimate relations with our spouses throughout the day for the entire month.

In addition to fasting, we are called upon to engage in acts of charity, selflessness, and to refrain from gossiping, lying, backbiting, slander, corruption, mischief, and other forms of dishonesty.

Let us welcome this month of mercy and forgiveness, a time of heightened worship and spiritual rejuvenation, rather than complacency. Ramadan is a period that inspires repentance, strengthens moral integrity, and binds Muslims to a life of spirituality, generosity, love, and peaceful coexistence. Welcome, O Ramadan!
