Reps Summon CBN And MDAs Over TSA Violations
In a bid to enforce accountability and transparency, the House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has taken decisive action against Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for failing to comply with Treasury Single Account (TSA) regulations…..READ ALSO BREAKING: Tinubu Nominates Five Directors For Senate Confirmation At CBN
Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Bamidele Salam, announced the decision during a hearing in Abuja, emphasizing the need to address alleged leakages and non-remittances of TSA revenue.
Summoning key figures including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Yemi Cardoso, and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the committee aims to shed light on discrepancies surrounding TSA revenue generation through Remita.
Despite clarification from Mr. Deremi Atanda, Managing Director of Remita Payment Service Ltd (RPSL), regarding Remita’s role as a software provider rather than revenue manager, concerns linger over the apparent lack of documentation, particularly from the CBN.
Salam stressed the importance of physical appearances from key stakeholders before the committee on February 20, 2024, underscoring the commitment to upholding transparency and financial integrity in government operations.
The move follows the establishment of the Treasury Single Account by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, aimed at enhancing transparency and compliance with constitutional provisions. As the investigation unfolds, the House remains steadfast in its pursuit of accountability within the nation’s financial system.
