Retract From Illegal Acts – Lukman Fires Shot At Tinubu

Salihu Lukman

In his resignation letter dated July 26, 2023, Salihu Mohammed Lukman, the former national vice chairman (North West) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities.

Lukman expressed his disapproval of the decision to announce former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the national chairman of the party.

According to insiders within the APC who confirmed to Daily Trust, Tinubu had endorsed Ganduje for the national chairman position after Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation.

However, Lukman argued that such a move goes against the principles and interests of the party’s founding fathers. In his resignation letter, he stated:

“I am hereby tendering my resignation from the position of National Vice Chairman, North-West of our esteemed party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). My resignation is effective immediately due to my strong conviction that the current state of affairs within the party does not align with the original vision of establishing a progressive party.”

“Rather than remaining in a leadership position and becoming a source of distraction for leaders, especially for the young administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I believe it is better to step aside and take a break from politics.”

“Nevertheless, I will retain my membership in the party with the hope that our leaders, particularly President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will reconsider any actions that may be unjust and illegal. This is essential for maintaining our claim of being a democratic and progressive party, both as politicians and as patriotic Nigerians. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our leaders in Kaduna, particularly Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, for considering me worthy of serving at the highest level of the party’s leadership.”
