Former Trabzonspor striker Emre Güral has predicted an improved goalscoring return for Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu following the arrival of Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah at the Turkish club.
According to Ireporter Online, Salah completed his move to Trabzonspor on Thursday, August 6, after leaving Liverpool at the expiration of his contract. The 34-year-old is expected to spend at least two years with the Turkish outfit.
Güral believes Salah’s presence will create more opportunities for Onuachu because opposing defenders are likely to devote significant attention to the Egyptian forward.
He explained that Salah’s attacking threat could create additional space for Onuachu to exploit in the final third, potentially allowing the Nigerian striker to find the net more frequently.
According to Güral, Onuachu could benefit significantly from the quality and movement of a player of Salah’s calibre, particularly when defenders are forced to adjust their defensive structure to contain the former Liverpool star.
The former Trabzonspor forward described Onuachu as a consistent goalscorer and suggested that the striker could produce an even better scoring record if he is given additional space in attack.
Güral also noted that Salah’s ability to attract multiple defenders could make life easier for teammates, with Onuachu potentially benefiting from the gaps created by the Egyptian’s movements.
Onuachu returned to Trabzonspor permanently from Southampton in 2025 after impressing during a previous loan spell. The Nigerian enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, scoring 22 goals to finish as one of the joint-top scorers in the Turkish Süper Lig.
With Salah now joining the squad, expectations are growing that the partnership could provide Trabzonspor with one of the league’s most dangerous attacking combinations ahead of the new campaign.
