BREAKING: DSS Makes Fresh Arrests In Kidnap Of Nasarawa Varsity Dean

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested three additional suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of Professor Samuel Avengbe Okunsebor, the Dean of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University.

According to Ireporter Online, the latest arrests were made on Friday night as security operatives intensified investigations into the kidnapping of the university don.

Professor Okunsebor was abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

The professor was reportedly rescued by DSS operatives two days after his abduction. Two suspects, including a woman, were arrested during the initial operation.

A security source disclosed that the latest arrests were carried out at a local brothel along the Mararraban Akunza section of the Lafia-Makurdi highway.

The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black or Starboy, from Plateau State; 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga; and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.

The security source said the three suspects were believed to be members of the same kidnapping network allegedly involved in the professor’s abduction.

The suspects are currently being held at the DSS State Command as investigations continue. Their detention, according to the source, was backed by a valid warrant issued by a magistrate’s court.

The latest arrests are expected to assist investigators in uncovering more details about the alleged kidnapping operation and identifying other individuals who may have been involved.
