Abaribe stated it was crucial to dispel the rumors that members of the National Assembly have left the country due to threats from angry Nigerians planning a ten-day protest against the economic crisis. He asserted, “Representatives of the people would never abandon their duties when the people most needed them.”

The proposed nationwide protest aims to highlight the increasing cost of living and economic difficulties faced by Nigerians. Despite the unrest, Abaribe reassured the public that lawmakers are present and ready to address these issues.

During the event to commemorate the 70th birthday of Chief Sam Nkire, Abaribe highlighted the importance of celebrating milestones even in difficult times. He stressed that reaching seventy is a significant achievement, despite the nation’s current struggles.

Abaribe pointed out that he and his colleagues were still residing in the country, actively participating in discussions to address national issues. He said, “We have a situation on our hands; citizens are angry because things are not working as they should in the country. We want Nigerians to know that these things do happen, but what we have to do is to learn lessons from the experience.”

Abaribe emphasized the need for those in authority to take their responsibilities seriously and work towards solving the country’s problems. He criticized extravagant spending by officials while the masses suffer, stating, “You can’t be buying new planes, building new houses when the masses are suffering. You cannot drive a Rolls Royce to my house and ask me to lend you money because I will not give you. This is what Nigeria is doing.”
