Sh**king Betrayal: Close Friend Murders Boutique Owner In Horrific Kidnapping Plot

Authorities in Delta State have unearthed the remains of Paulinus Okon, who was reportedly murdered by a close companion…READ MORE…

The state Police Commissioner, Abaniwonda Olufemi, confirmed this development during a press briefing. According to the police’s public relations officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the alarming case upon learning of the crime.

“The purpose of this briefing is to discuss the murder of Paulinus Okon, who was allegedly killed by his close friend, Efe Onoeti. Paulinus was declared missing on September 8, 2024, after he had gone out with Efe, 30 years old. Initially, Efe denied any knowledge of Paulinus’s whereabouts, even visiting the victim’s family to feign concern, although he later contradicted himself by asserting the deceased did not accompany him that day.

“Later, Efe requested 500,000 Naira from Paulinus’s brother, claiming he needed it to pay a herbalist who could provide information about Paulinus. Eventually, he informed the family that Paulinus had been kidnapped and extorted a ransom of 20.715 million Naira while claiming to be in contact with the kidnappers.

“Upon suspicions surrounding Efe’s involvement, he was arrested, and the case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Asaba. On November 29, 2024, I tasked the DPO of Ekpan Police Station with thoroughly investigating the case, as Efe was not cooperating.

“The DPO conducted an intelligence-led investigation that implicated Okeimute Ogaga, 48 years old. Upon his arrest, Okeimute confessed that Efe had brought Paulinus to Orere River in Otokutu, urging for his murder. On the night of September 8, 2024, Efe, Okeimute, and a herbalist known as Lawrence Jo tied Paulinus to a post and beheaded him alive.

“His body was disposed of in the river, while the herbalist buried the victim’s head at his shrine in Otokutu. Following this, police operatives, directed by the DPO, retrieved the skull from the shrine.

“During questioning, Efe revealed that he killed Paulinus out of fear of repercussions. He had advertised a property for 30 million Naira, which Paulinus paid in three installments, but instead of purchasing the house, Efe misappropriated the funds to buy land and construct a duplex for himself. Convinced that killing Paulinus would prevent the truth from surfacing, he decided to commit the crime. Efe and the other suspects are now in custody.”

Activist Israel Joe was among the first to raise awareness about this case on social media, demanding justice for the victim. He noted that Paulinus was a successful boutique owner in Otokutu, Ughelli South Local Government Area, prior to his tragic kidnapping and murder.

Joe alleged that Paulinus’s friend conspired with others to orchestrate the kidnapping, and after beheading him, they continued to extort the victim’s family. A video released by Joe has since gained traction online.
