highlighted that six months after pledging to meet with President Tinubu to discuss Kanu’s release, the governors have yet to make good on their word.

In July 2024, five Southeast governors—Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Alex Otti (Abia), Chukwuma Soludo (Anambra), and Peter Mbah (Enugu)—publicly announced their plans to engage with Tinubu on the matter, along with pressing regional concerns.

Reacting to the delayed action, Ejimakor posted on X:
“Dear SE Governors: You appeared trustworthy in July 2024 when you promised to meet with Pres. Tinubu for MAZI NNAMDI KANU’s release. Six months later, you have yet to fulfill that promise. Remember, a promise is a debt, and the Southeast longs for a swift resolution to insecurity.”

The ongoing delay has sparked growing frustration within the region, as the promise remains unmet despite previous assurances.
